About Us

The Theological Education Institute (TEI) was founded in Boston in 1990 by the Rev. John C. Rankin, and it has been headquartered in his native Hartford since 1992. The TEI is an LLC, and not a not-for-profit organization. This allows freedom for interface with the partisan political world, where the priority of the vision for "first the Gospel, then politics..." and a passion for "the love of hard questions" is always in place; where "the biblical nature of a level playing field" for all debated issues to be equally heard is in place, confident that the truth will rise to the top.

The TEI is engaged in bringing theological education to the church and society in various ways. The most well known is the Mars Hill Forum series, in place since 1993. These forums have always been and always will be strictly educational, but the TEI has opted not to bring them under its own umbrella of a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. They may be supported, with tax-deductible receipts, through Frontline Ministries, Inc., 125 Borough Road, Penacook, NH 03303 [EIN 22-2806351]; make the checks payable to Frontline Ministries, and on the memo line write: "Account #1061 - Mars Hill Forums." These monies will be for the underwriting of specific Mars Hill Forums.

The Mars Hill Society is an invitational association of like-minded Christians who want to see the Gospel well represented in all arenas of the culture, including the desire to see godly men and women elected to political office. It will not endorse candidates for office, but will put forth ideas which candidates may endorse if they wish.
